De Jong: Maybe I'll stay at Ajax another year

The 21-year-old is now one of the most highly rated young players in world football and he, along with teammate Matthijs De Ligt, has been linked heavily with possible moves to Barcelona and Manchester City.

Ajax director Marc Overmars confirmed he had held talks with the French champions regarding the fee, but did admit no final agreement is in place yet.

De Jong has been linked with a move away from Ajax in recent weeks, with Barcelona and Juventus also said to be interested.

For a few months De Jong and Matthijs de Ligt have been on the squad lists for various top European sides, including Man City, PSG, Bayern and Real Madrid, as well as Barca.

Barça and City may have little choice but to now move quickly in order to match PSG if they do not wish to lose out.

'There are so many I look at, especially the midfielders.

He was a target for Manchester City in January, as Pep Guardiola seeks to add depth to his midfield. There are so many to learn from. "City and Barcelona are great examples".

Ajax star Frenkie De Jong seemingly has the pick of Europe's top clubs and he's been linked with majority in recent months.

De Jong told the Manchester Evening News earlier this week that he wants to finish this season well with Ajax. Then we will see.

Now it appears he is going to miss out on another target - De Telegraaf are reporting that De Jong has made a decision to sign for PSG, in a deal worth €75 million.

'Maybe I'll stay for another year, maybe I'll leave.

'I don't pay attention to it.

"I hear the stories but I just want to finish this season well".
