Randall on McCarthy: I don't why Packers fired him

Philbin's first game as interim coach will be at home against the Atlanta Falcons on Sunday.

McCarthy returned to the Packers' facility this week to meet with the coaching staff and former players, with the latter giving him a standing ovation after he met with them on Wednesday.

"He wanted an opportunity to speak with the team". Not just about football and winning football games, but his passion. "And Aaron is one of the best - if not the best - quarterback to ever play the game, so their work has a direct connection to what he does and that's.at the end of the day there is a lot of complications".

Randall, who was traded in March to the Browns in exchange for DeShone Kizer, gave credit to McCarthy for being a "great, great coach" and indicated he doesn't think McCarthy was the reason the team has a losing record this season. I've got nothing but respect for him. Linebacker Clay Matthews called it "warranted and deserved". "But other than that, I don't know". And the player, as well. For him to invest the past 13 years in this team, has given his heart and soul to us, to have that kind of closure, it was great of the organization - Joe, Gutey, Mark and everybody that allowed him to come in and say his piece. "When I found out, I was as shocked as many of you were, I'm sure".

Sunday's heartbreaking loss led to the untimely firing of head coach Mike McCarthy on the same day - and when asked about McCarthy's banishment, Rodgers provided a glimpse into the relationship he shares with his parents Edward and Darla Rodgers - revealing that he spent time with them recently.

"Me and him never had any type of problems", he continued. "I don't know what they were doing, but it is what it is".

"That's the Green Bay Packer way, right?" I'm not that old, but I'm guessing it's been like that for a long time. "Mark and Russ and Brian were all totally supportive, they think that was the right thing to do, as did I. Hopefully it will help".
