Marvel's "The Punisher" Season 2 Trailer Is Here

The Punisher's second season drops January 18. Screenshot CNET

The first trailer is as bloody and brutal as you could want, proving that if this is to be the last season of the show we see for a bit after Netflix drops the ax, the character is going to go out with a bang - and then several more bangs. However, Frank can't leave the vest behind when trouble finds him, bringing him back to his old life with a new mission and a sidekick he never asked for.

Former marine-turned-vigilante Frank Castle (Jon Bernthal) has been living a quiet life on the road until he suddenly becomes embroiled in the attempted murder of a young girl (Giorgia Whigham).

Frank Castle is back for Season 2 of The Punisher, except he must battle a familiar face again: Billy Russo, also known as "Jigsaw".

New and old enemies come into his life and he is pressured to make the decision on whether or not to fully accept himself as the Punisher.

Season 2 will see the return of FBI Agent Dinah Madani (Amber Rose Revah) and Curtis Hoyle (Jason R. Moore), one of the Punisher's allies. Criminal Minds actor Josh Stewart joins the cast as John Pilgrim, a new alt-right, Christian Fundamentalist villain.

As we await the new season and the third season of that other remaining Marvel series on the streamer Jessica Jones, no word if they'll be a Season 3 of The Punisher down the line. Steve Lightfoot (Hannibal) serves as showrunner, writer, and executive producer.
