The Division 2 PC Requirements Revealed, Ubisoft Drops Steam for Epic Store

The Division 2

Additionally, Ubisoft says it is working with Epic to integrate its Uplay digital rights management software with Epic's online services.

As the video above shows, Massive has spent considerable effort optimizing The Division 2 for PC gamers.

The jump is the result of a newly forged partnership between Ubisoft and Epic Games that will see a handful of future Ubisoft games announced for the platform this year.

Ubisoft has now announced that it'll skip steam for its impending online shooter, The Division 2.

'As long-time fans and partners of Ubisoft, we're thrilled to bring a range of awesome Ubisoft games to the Epic Games store, ' crows Tim Sweeney, founder and chief executive of Epic Games, in his announcement of the deal.

But, as far as the decision between Epic Games Store and Steam is concerned, there's obvious reason to side with Epic. As Black Ops 4 moved over the Battle.Net alongside Destiny 2, it has been proven that PC gamers are willing to buy games outside of Valve's network.

In fact, Ubisoft continuously released new content for the game over the course of three years, building a powerful and eager community. Epic has been enticing publishers to come on board its Games Store by promising to take a 12 percent share of game sales, a significantly lower cut than the 30 percent that Valve claims on Steam.

While the Epic Games Store has been around since December 2018, it looks like the service will get even bigger here in 2019.

In a press release, Epic and Ubisoft say that the Standard, Gold, and Ultimate versions of the game will all be available, and will guarantee access to the game's private beta.

For the recently launched Epic Games Store to become a huge success, Epic needs some of the big publishers launching must-have new PC games to dump Steam. The difference in revenue split, with Epic Games offering 88 percent of the profits over Steam's 70 percent probably sealed the deal. It will also offer a "substantial" campaign and a "robust" endgame that will expand via free DLC for all players.
