Alia Bhatt gets mobbed, Ranbir Kapoor comes to the rescue

Bollywood stars such as Ranveer Singh, Ranbir Kapoor, Alia Bhatt and Varun Dhawan landed in the capital city on Thursday for a meeting with Prime Minister Narendra Modi.

Producer Mahaveer Jain also said, "Getting the new breed of prominent actors and filmmakers to meet PM Modi Saab was an idea initiated by Karan Johar and I. It took me no time to convince the delegation to pay this historic flying visit to Delhi".

But the photo did not go down well with social media users as many activists and journalists called them "spineless" for posing with a prime minister, whose controversial policy decisions had caused a lot of distress to a large section of the Indian society. Sharing this photo on his Instagram, Ranveer wrote, "Jaadoo ki Jhappi!"

The meeting came weeks after Bollywood producers met him and discussed issues faced by the industry, which led to the reduction in GST on film tickets. It's not a regular selfie but the one with the country's PM, Narendra Modi. There is so much that we want to do, and can do. And can do and this dialogue was towards how and what ways we can do that.

"Together we would love to inspire and ignite positive changes to a transformative India", Karan wrote on Instagram alongside a squad selfie with Modi.

"Was an honour to meet and interact with the honourable prime minister @narendramodi". He was also seen pretty alert when a few of the fans tried to get a bit close to click selfies with them. He was very receptive about our concerns which was honestly very cool. Unfortunately, Sidharth was cornered and he was later accompanied by Varun Dhawan. Ranveer gave the PM a hug during the photo op and it is going viral on the internet.

PM Modi's previous meeting with Bollywood producers and actors drew flak on social media for not having any female representation on the panel.
