Indian cricket stars in hot water over 'sexist, misogynistic' remarks

Koffee With Karan 6 Hardik Pandya's Father Must Apologise Too His Support For Son Was Creepier

A two-match ban has been suggested for global cricketers Hardik Pandya and Lokesh Rahul for their "sexist" comments during a talk show hosted by Bollywood filmmaker Karan Johar, after a row erupted over their remarks. Rahul was, however, a shade more restrained in his responses. CoA member Vinod Rai said that he is not convinced with the apology and Diana Edulji is seeking legal opinion on the matter.

Batting opener Lokesh Rahul also took part in the interview and has found himself in the firing line alongside Pandya.

Taking to Twitter, Pandya posted, "After reflecting on my comments on Koffee with Karan, I would like to apologise to everyone concerned who I may have hurt in any way".

The 25-year-old later said he got carried away by the "nature of the show" and is now busy drafting a response to the BCCI show cause notice.

While Hardik has already responded to the notice saying that he is "sincerely regretful" of the comments made in the show and didn't mean to hurt anyone.

According to a latest report in Hindustan Times, BCCI treasurer Anirudh Chaudhry has said that the apology from Pandya is insincere and he has requested for the entire team to go through a sensitization process. "Could be different for both players depending on what they said on the show", Rai said in the letter.

Hardik Pandya was a disgrace to the cricket community the way he spoke on Koffeewith Karan show. Of notable significance is that Rai has said that he is not satisfied with the response of Pandya, who has expressed regret and tendered apology for his remarks on the show.

"It will be considered whether players should even be allowed to appear on such shows which have got nothing to do with cricket", a BCCI source told PTI. Pandya opened up about his partying habits where he boasted about things like not asking the names of women at parties and watching them move on the dance among others. "I'm a little from the black side so I need to see how they move".

Pandya and Rahul appeared on a popular talk show hosted by the Bollywood filmmaker Karan Johar earlier this week. It prompted the Indian cricket board to issue show cause notice to the duo. "Doesn't appear honest. I am inclined to suggest a penalty", Rai wrote stating that the seriousness of the comments of KL Rahul and Pandya are different and the quantum of punishment could be different. But, it did not turn good for the show and for the cricketers.
