Saturday's Man Utd transfer rumours: Philippe Coutinho, Ander Herrera and more

Philippe Coutinho is FC Barcelona's most expensive signing in history, but the Brazilian could reportedly be sold to pave the way for a sensational Neymar return.

The Brazil global is only a year into his contract at the Camp Nou following his £142million move from Liverpool last January.

The 26-year-old joined the Catalans from Liverpool in January 2018 for a fee around £145 million but has failed to impress the coaches at Camp Nou.

According to SunSport quoting Mundo Deportivo, the Red Devils have already contacted Coutinho's agent to inquire about his situation.

There are also doubts about whether Barca could afford to re-sign Neymar.

But Coutinho has struggled to make an impact at Camp Nou and has started only nine of Barca's 18 games in La Liga this season.

But will consider leaving at the end of the season if his situation in Spain does not improve, while his family are said to be happily settled in Spain.

However, he has found life more hard in his second season and has started only one of Barca's last five fixtures: the 1-1 draw at home to Tottenham in December when coach Ernesto Valverde picked a weakened XI with first place in the group already secured.

"When I wasn't playing Dembele everyone asked about him", Valverde said after the game.

Their displays have meant that Coutinho has been unable to nail down a position either in midfield or as part of the front three.

"He is not happy, he has to fight, but one or the other nearly always plays and Coutinho gives us a lot and will give us a lot".

And just 14 minutes later, Borja Mayoral doubled his side's lead as cruised to a 2-0 win after the first half of the encounter.
