Cousins return to action soon

DeMarcus Cousins Warriors

We have to figure out what the rotations will look like, how many minutes he can play.

The 28-year-old center tore his Achilles in January last season while with the New Orleans Pelicans and is yet to feature for the Warriors, although Golden State are reportedly hoping to have him in action next week.

Cousins joined the defending champions Warriors on a free contract of 5.3 million USA dollars a year and hopes to play for the team in the second half of the season.

DeMarcus Cousins will return from injury for the Golden State Warriors against the LA Clippers on January 18.

Cousins has targeted Golden State's game January 18 at the Clippers as his return date and first game of the season, though Kerr said it could even be sooner if all continues going well - perhaps even against his former New Orleans team at home next Wednesday.

Kerr said Cousins had made "big steps" in his rehabilitation of late. The return date is set as long as those strides continue and he is cleared by Rick Celebrini, the team's director of sports medicine and performance.

Head coach Kerr confirmed that Cousins will play from the start in his comeback game, yet there will be work to be done with a player unlike any the team have had before. "So that he's through that barrier, and assuming everything goes well the next week or two, that's sort of the idea to get him in some time that week".

"It's exciting", Thompson said. "I know our fan base is excited". "Just coming out and being part of the team. that's good enough for me". Especially on the block, he's such a handful down there, his ability to play-make. "I commend him for sticking with it". The four-time All-Star averaged 25.2 points and 12.9 rebounds per game while shooting 47.0 percent overall, 35.4 percent from beyond the arc and 74.6 percent from the free-throw line.
