Fallout 76 players are nabbing unreleased items from a secret "developer room"

As the article mentioned, glitching into "dev rooms" in Bethesda RPGs without modding or using the console is nothing new. It's been one comically inept blunder after another, and now players have found a way to gain access to an in-game room that houses both unreleased items and an actual human NPC who isn't dead. As the name implies, these rooms are usually intended for developers to experiment with various items, NPCs, and objects without affecting the rest of the game.

Since release, a lot of Fallout 76 players have complained that the game's world, while large, is lacking interesting Easter eggs to uncover.

One of the primary complaints players have with Fallout 76 is its lack of traditional, quest-giving human NPCs. Exploits like this were relatively harmless in Bethesda's singleplayer RPGs, and exploring/cataloging them was nearly a hobby, but the devs are apparently taking a different approach to such exploits in Fallout 76. A box called "All Scrap" contains plans for as-yet unreleased items, including power armour paints such as Winterized, Military and Atom Cats.

To find out more about what's been going on, I got in contact with some of the people who have visited the secret area - who wish to remain anonymous - and asked them about the process. Several sources told me Bethesda is now issuing automatic account suspensions for those who enter the room. However, before that happens, some users will be making a hefty chunk of change by selling the items through the use of mule accounts. The short clip shows a player stumbling upon the dev room where a lone human NPC stands only to ultimately get his ass kicked by the player.

This has prompted something of a panic amongst item dupers, as the PC patch was released several days before the patch for the console versions (due out on Monday). Most interestingly, players also discovered a human NPC named "Wooby" standing directly in the center of the area. According to Eurogamer, rumors of the Fallout 76 secret developer room have been roaming around Reddit and Discord for about a week.
