Kamala Harris to Run for President

Kamala Harris to Run for President

"I know that most police officers deserve to be proud of their public service and commended for the way they do their jobs", Harris writes in "The Truths We Hold".

Her book "The Truths We Hold: An American Journey" hit the book stores on Wednesday.

In a clip shared on Twitter Thursday night, Colbert addressed the issue head-on, asking the lawyer-turned-politician, "Are you gonna run for president?" She was the first woman attorney general of California and first African American to occupy that position. But several sources knowledgeable about her plans say she is ready, and has in fact chose to run, with the enthusiastic blessing of her husband and two stepchildren.

Harris was born in Oakland and began her public career as a two-term district attorney there.

To the delight of the audience, a smiling Harris responded, "I might".

Though California is Harris' home state, her team wants to locate its headquarters on the East Coast, near the major cable news outlets and within quicker flying distance to some of the early Midwestern and East Coast primaries and caucuses, such as Iowa, New Hampshire and SC. "Given today's Democratic Party, that president will be Kamala Harris".

But, she continues, "I also know this: it is a false choice to suggest you must either be for the police or for police accountability". According to Forbes, Harris laughed during a 2014 interview when a journalist raised a question about legalization.

"Despite a woman's role in the world, there are still certain myths of what a woman can and cannot do, Harris said, citing her mother". Meanwhile, Minnesota Sen. Amy Klobuchar, who is also considering a 2020 bid, often refers to her own prosecutorial past. Massachusetts Sen. Elizabeth Warren became the first major Democratic candidate for 2020 when she announced her run in December.

The timing of the book tour and media blitz gives Harris - a first-term Democrat who still lacks the name recognition of some of her would-be competitors despite cutting a high-profile during the Supreme Court nomination hearings of Brett Kavanaugh - the opportunity to get a toehold in the news cycle while preserving some intrigue for a formal campaign launch in the near future.

I wonder if she'll invite the Knights of Columbus. "Being able to go toe-to-toe with him on law and order in a smarter way, I think, is going to be important". He couldn't make it through the primaries, which was won by President Donald Trump.
