Robertson brands complaints about Salah diving 'desperate'

Andrew Robertson Liverpool 2018-19

Salah both won and scored a penalty in Liverpool's recent 1-0 victory over Brighton at the Amex Stadium, which re-opened their lead at the top of the Premier League table to seven points.

Andrew Robertson has jumped to the defence of team-mate Mohamed Salah and insisted the Egyptian talisman does not dive to win penalties.

Asked if any of the rough treatment dished out to Salah bothered Liverpool, Scotland full-back Robertson replied: "None of it apart from the diving, he's not that type of player".

"I was at the edge of the box and it was a stonewaller".

"If people are starting to say Mo has gone down easily it's not fair because the one against Arsenal, especially, he got clipped three times on his way down and they still appealed it so it's a bit of desperation".

"I'm completely happy even with the way we did it because I saw pretty early in the game that it was a harsh one, really tough that we would come through".

Salah celebrates after scoring a penalty against Brighton.

Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp has described Fabinho as a brilliant player after the Brazilian impressed in a makeshift centre-half role against Brighton on Saturday.

Gross said: "My first feeling was that he put his arm around me".

"We know we can control the game and we are not that childish anymore".

"We played a lot of times against a 4-5-1, it's really hard".

"It's that winning mentality".

Having started in 20 of the 21 games he's been in the Premier League matchday squad, Robertson needs to be handed a rest at some point by Klopp, if Liverpool venture into the latter stages of the Champions League again, but he is most certainly one of Liverpool's unsung heroes and can become a club great if he continues on his current path.

"We've had a wee girl, all healthy, we've called her Aria but I'll give my wife all credit for that", he added.
