Samsung reveals the notch, features and launch date for Galaxy M

Samsung set to launch India-first online-only Galaxy M series this month-end

Samsung, which has been dethroned by Xiaomi in India, and threatened by the popularity of Realme, Vivo and other Chinese brands, has now decided something which never has been done before.

The move to launch the Galaxy M series in India first could be related to the company's falling market share in the country. While the tenth anniversary obviously is the most interesting of such hardware, the Korean Chaebol like we have learned from leaks and rumors is also working on replacing its Galaxy J series with the expected launch of three devices under ' Galaxy M' series.

The company's new M-series of smartphones will be targeted at "millennials", who are flocking to ecommerce platforms to buy smartphones, a customer segment that played a major role in helping Xiaomi outpace Samsung. "Inspired by millennials and designed in India, Galaxy M will empower the millennials like never before". As the company has said it is partnering with Amazon to sell this new series in India.

Samsung M-series has been declared as India-first smartphone.

After their debut in India, M series phones will roll out globally, Asim Warsi, Samsung's Indian mobile head told Reuters.

In December, the government had introduced new regulations - effective February 1 - that would bar online marketplaces with foreign investments from selling products of the companies where they hold stakes, and ban exclusive marketing arrangements. This can feature a triple camera set-up.

Samsung has launched a microsite for an upcoming Galaxy M device - likely the Galaxy M20, judging by the dual-camera setup on its back - and, sure enough, it has an Infinity-V display with a single selfie lens occupying the small notch up top. It's expected that the Galaxy M10 and M20 will be available starting March 5, while the M30 could be available for purchase at a later date. But, we are yet ascertain the screen size and battery details.
