Chad Michael Murray Set to Join the Cast of 'Riverdale'

Riverdale Chad Michael Murray

The former One Tree Hill and Dawson's Creek star is joining the cast of Riverdale in a recurring role in season 3.

Murray's reported character Edgar Evernever is the leader of the mysterious cult-like group "The Farm", and has previously been namechecked on the show. Yes, Lucas Scott, Austin Ames, Jake. those are all of the iconic roles that Chad Michael Murray has played. He's described as a "charming, handsome guru" - but those good looks might be distracting us from his sinister agenda.

Riverdale, which streams on Netflix, is a modern reworking of the classic Archie Comics, which were themselves reworked in the noughties. He's got Alice Cooper completely brainwashed (she donated all of Betty's money to The Farm) and his power in the town only seems to be growing.

Evernever is the leader of a secret "farm" that the most recent drama on Riverdale revolves around. "It fits the show so well", Cole Sprouse told ET of Ripa's casting.

Murray is the latest star to join the Riverdale cast this season - following Kelly Ripa'sfirst appearance as Mrs. Mulwray, the gun-toting mistress of Hiram Lodge - played by Ripa's real-life hubby, Mark Consuelos. However, the preview does show Alice participating in some sort of baptism, though a tearful Betty is soon heard declaring, "She's not breathing!"

Riverdale airs Wednesdays at 8 p.m. ET/PT on The CW.
