Wearing a specially made uniform, and standing on a stepladder, she was sworn in as an honorary officer of the Freeport Police Department.
"I have cancer. The bad guys are in my lungs", Abigail told KTRK-TV.
Abigail Arias, 6, who is battling cancer, stands on a chair and is sworn in as a Texas police officer - complete with a donut. The little girl fought off a kidney cancer only to have it return, and doctors have told her parents there is no cure. "Extremely tough, we cried for a few weeks".
The officer immediately decided he wanted to make that dream a reality and he contacted a company, Cop Stop, to make Abigail a custom Freeport uniform.
"In my 27 years, this will be the best thing ever for my career, and it should be for everyone here", Freeport Police Chief Ray Garivey said.
Garivey first met Abigail in December, during the department's "Pancakes with Santa" event.
Both chemotherapy and radiation treatment failed to have an impact on her nephroblastoma and Abigail's family were forced to put her life "in God's hands".
"Her terrific smile and will to keep fighting "the bad guys" inside of her - I wanted to make her dream come true", Garivey told CNN. "You have to meet her to really understand what a great and inspiring young lady she is". "Her story brought peace officers from all over today into one room and it was a magical moment for all who were in attendance".
Abigail thought up a good way to combat what she calls "the bad guys" in her body that are making her sick. "I want to help this cancer go away in five seconds". The six-year-old's condition has worsened, to the point that she is not expected to live too much longer. "I rung the bell, but now this cancer is coming back", she said.
