Baldur's Gate, Neverwinter Nights, and more cult classics are coming to consoles

With Baldur's Gate, Baldur's Gate II, Baldur's Gate: Siege of Dragonsphere, Icewind Dale, Planetscape: Torment and Neverwinter Nights already under their belt on PC, these new console ports should be in good hands. Icewind Dale and Planescape: Torment, two games that originally used BioWare's Infinity Engine, will arrive on a new platform this year, as well.

In a press release from Skybound, retail and digital are mentioned among the options available for purchase.

Skybound's CEO, Ian Howe, said, "We're excited to bring Beamdog's incredible slate to new platforms for both the dedicated fan and those who will soon discover these adventures for the first time".

Skybound Games has announced a partnership with Beamdog to bring classic BioWare computer role-playing games (CRPGs) to consoles, including the well-remembered Baldur's Gate franchise. Skybound is currently the owners of the now defunct Telltale Games The Walking Dead, which they acquired in October of 2018, and has helped with the publishing of a number of independent games, including Slime Rancher by Monomi Park, The Long Dark by Hinterland, and Death's Gambit with White Rabbit and Adult Swim Games. In the meantime, a selection of Beamdog's games will be on display at the Skybound Games booth at PAX East in Boston from March 28 through March 31.

Baldur's Gate is a legendary CRPG and arguably the progenitor of titles such as Dragon Age and Mass Effect. "We're thrilled to find ourselves working with such a talented group".

More details will be revealed in the coming months, including more information about the physical release.
