Wells Fargo extends branch hours after mobile system outage

Wells Fargo customers continued to complain Friday about a glitch that is preventing them from banking online

The bank said that issue has now been corrected.

The company announced that nearly all services were restored as of Thursday evening and apologized for the inconvenience after outages that affected ATM, mobile and online banking platforms. She was concerned about making a payment on her student loan through Wells Fargo.

Wells Fargo still will not say whether an incident at a Wells Fargo server facility in Shoreview, Minnesota the same day was connected to the company's widespread online banking and mobile app problems.

Wells Fargo responded to some Twitter users that it was aware of an issue regarding direct deposit payments.

Whitney Dawe uses the Wells Fargo app every day; he's been banking with them for almost eight years. Smoke caused by the maintenance work triggered an automatic power shutdown, and most of the bank's applications were re-routed to back-up data centers.

Friday morning, some Wells Fargo employees reached out to Channel 13 to let us know their paychecks, which were supposed to be deposited directly into their accounts, did not go through. Some payroll deposit, which were not visible for some time, can be seen again and while mobile and online banking systems are operating, they continue to experience delays. "It makes you a little nervous as to what's going on".

The bank announced Friday that "many" branches would extend hours on Friday and Saturday to assist customers impacted by the outage.

San Francisco-based Wells Fargo, the nation's third-largest bank, can't seem to catch a break when it comes to its customer service issues over the last few years. However, the bank assured customers it is safe to make purchases using its credit and debit cards. "All that is just running through my head", she said.

"I apologize to our customers and team members for the inconvenience caused by yesterday's system issues", said Wells Fargo CEO and President Tim Sloan in a press release.
