Snow Possible Overnight Before Bigger Storm Arrives Tuesday

Schools and colleges had canceled classes ahead of the storm expected to bring 6 to 8 inches (15 to 20 centimeters) of snow.

The Midwest and Northeast will only have a little break between snow events.

As a snowstorm paralyzes much of the Pacific Northwest, officials are warning about severe surf and winds in Hawaii as a winter storm hits that state.

Snow is expected to fall and create slippery conditions from Bismarck, North Dakota to Sioux Falls, South Dakota; Minneapolis; Des Moines and Cedar Rapids, Iowa; Madison, Milwaukee and Green Bay, Wisconsin; and Traverse City and Marquette, Michigan.

You may also have to scrape ice off your auto early Monday morning.

As the rain moves in Sunday evening and Sunday night, areas north and west of Richmond could see some wintry weather. According to AccuWeather.com, there is now a 47 percent chance of 3 to 6 inches of accumulation in the area, a 40 percent chance of between 1 and 3 inches and a 3 percent chance of 6 to 10 inches of snowfall.

"Disruptions to logistical operations are expected due to heavy snowfall causing hazardous travel conditions", Clark said. Cars are pictured driving on snow and ice on Interstate 405 approaching Kirkland, Washington, on Saturday.

But more snow was possible for the region by midweek, the report said.

SEATTLE-Residents of the Pacific Northwest took to neighborhood hills with skis, sleds or even just laundry baskets February 9 to celebrate an unusual dump of snow in a region more accustomed to winter rain.

The snow may change to ice pellets and freezing rain in the afternoon, it will turn back to snow by Tuesday night and snow will change to flurries by Wednesday.

The Central states will then have to brace for yet another winter storm at late week.
