Something to look forward to: Despite its name, Mobile World Congress isn't limited to actual mobile devices as Microsoft will demonstrate in a couple of weeks with the unveiling of its second-gen HoloLens mixed reality headset.
The teaser (below), shared by Microsoft technical fellow Alex Kipman, doesn't tell us much about HoloLens 2.
Microsoft has always been rumoured to be working on a successor to the original HoloLens headset.
This no doubt points to Microsoft's February 24th, 2019 pre-MWC conference, which the company has already confirmed will feature an appearance from Kipman, as well as company CEO Satya Nadella and corporate vice president Julia White.
It now appears that the company is gearing up to unveil the next generation Windows Mixed Reality (WMR) headset, tentatively called the HoloLens 2, later this month ahead of MWC 2019. Is carbon fiber in the cards?
We've heard reports that the HoloLens 2 could potentially use either Qualcomm's XR1 or Snapdragon 850 ARM processors, with a wider field of view.
But HoloLens remains the most recognisable branding in the AR field, and could yet prove a consumer hit if the right sorts of revisions to design, pricing and software support are made with a true successor.
To catch up with everything that Microsoft makes official at the event, stay tuned to Fossbytes.
