Cash Strapped Pakistan To Host Saudi Crown Prince

The crown prince at the invitation of Prime Minister Imran Khan will visit Pakistan on Feb 16 and 17. Mohammad bin Salman will be accompanied by a high-powered delegation including other members of the royal family key ministers and leading businessmen

"At this stage, we are expecting serious Memorandums of Understanding [for concrete projects] between $15 billion to $20 billion worth of investments from Saudi Arabia in the area of oil refining, petrochemicals, energy sector, alternate energy and the mineral sector", Sharif told VOA.

The MoUs will be inked relating to diverse sectors including investment, finance, power, renewable energy, internal security, media, culture and sports.

The crown prince will arrive in Pakistan on the invitation of Prime Minister Imran Khan on February 16 (Saturday).

"Our relations with Saudi Arabia are entering a new era", said the foreign minister.

The crown prince accompanied by a high-powered delegation including members of the Royal family, key ministers and leading businessmen, the spokesman said.

Continuing, he said that Commander of the Islamic Coalition General Raheel Sharif during a meeting with him [Qureshi] the other day had made it clear that the force was not specific to any country or group.

When asked if the Saudi investment could be part of the China-Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC), he said that Pakistan and China had agreed on setting up three special economic zones, which could be joined by other countries, including Saudi Arabia and the United Arab Emirates.

The foreign minister said: "He is leaving for Germany tomorrow (Thursday) to attend Munich conference on Afghan issue".

He remarked that more investment is coming into Pakistan than it has in the last 10 years.

Sources said seven BMWs 7 Series, one land cruiser, and eight containers carrying essential articles for the crown prince's personal use have been brought to Pakistan and shifted to the Prime Minister House where the visiting dignitary will stay during the visit.

Abdul Razak Dawood said that Saudi Arabia will invest Rs7 billion investment in Pakistan in the next two years. "Saudi Arabia has always helped Pakistan in testing times", he said.

Speaking at a Milken Institute summit in Abu Dhabi, Barrack argued that "whatever happened in Saudi Arabia, the atrocities in America are equal, or worse", according to Gulf News.

While the current United States president, Donald Trump, said Riyadh's explanation was "credible", many others from the worldwide community condemned the killing with Germany, Norway and Denmark all ceasing the sale of arms to Saudi Arabia.

Strict security arrangements have been finalized ahead of arrival of Saudi Arabia's Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman in Islamabad.
