Her attorney said at the time that Barba was unaware the drug was in her rented vehicle.
Barba had been out on bail since October 27 after posting a $50,000 bond.
The indictment alleges Barba was delivering about 830 grams of fentanyl when she was arrested the morning of October 11, 2018.
The indictment, filed in U.S. District Court in Norfolk on February 7, also accuses the former "American Idol" star from Point Pleasant, New Jersey of possessing 400 grams of a substance that contained a detectable amount of fentanyl, according to USA Today.
The indictment, which is heavily redacted, names two men as her alleged co-conspirators.
Barba was reportedly arrested on Thursday according to the Norfolk Sheriff's Office. The group allegedly stored the drugs in a Norfolk apartment, and the documents list several drug deals occurring in late 2018. The unsealed indictment revealed the 32-year-old has been charged with attempting to distribute cocaine, heroin, and two pounds of fentanyl. Later that month, Stennett delivered about 7 kilos of cocaine to a conspirator. Her state drug-dealing charges were dropped. The new charges could result in even more hard time, with each count carrying a maximum sentence of life in prison.
A New Jersey native, Barba was an American Idol hopeful in the same season that saw Jordin Sparks crowned the eventual victor.
Her film credits include being cast in the 2017 movie "All About the Money". She, along with many other former Idol stars, also participated in a "We Are the World" parody on Jimmy Kimmel Live! in May of past year.
Records cited by Fox also indicate Barba was arrested in New York City in 2011 for shoplifting.
