Four Versions of Windows 10 Receive Fresh New Fixes

Microsoft has published a demo of the PWA Office app's offline capabilities on its Microsoft Mechanics You Tube channel. Image Microsoft

Simply called "Office", it is created to replace the "My Office" app that's now on offer, and should serve as a gateway to recent documents, Office desktop applications, or accessing the free version of Office, available online.

While I don't expect we'll see any Windows Core OS devices start shipping until, at the earliest, later this year (my bet is we won't see anything ship until 2020), that doesn't mean Microsoft can't start talking about them with developers and partners.

Microsoft has updated the My Office app and would like to remind users that there's a free, online version of the suite.

According to Microsoft, the new Office app offers a simple experience that will help them get what they want. While the soon-to-be-replaced My Office app has most of these features, the new one focuses on free elements.

The new Office app is available for anyone who is using Office.

Also, it provides a single interface where you can find all of your recently used, pinned, shared documents related to these apps.

The app is created to bring the Office.com experience onto your PC and it's PWA, so it also works offline like a native app. It works even if you don't actually pay for Office, and it even lets you use the Office Online apps if you don't have the actual apps installed on your device.

Microsoft has also baked in a section which displays all the Office app that is available for the users. Admins can rebrand it, add third-party apps and plug in Microsoft Search. And although that paid-for Office sub isn't required, you do, of course, need your own Microsoft account to access the goodies. If you have MyOffice app installed on your PC, it will be automatically updated to the new Office app soon.
