Mercedes-Benz SLC Final Edition revealed

Mercedes-Benz will show two special-edition roadsters at the 2019 Geneva Motor Show next month and each will likely signal the end of the line for their model lines. Furthermore, the SLK started its career in the launch color Yellowstone, an unusual choice for Mercedes-Benz. One particularly enticing rumor we've heard is that Mercedes-AMG is working on a mid-engine sports auto to do battle with the Porsche 718 Boxster and Cayman.

The third and current-generation SLK bowed in 2011 before it was renamed the SLC in 2016.

Available overseas in four engine guises (SLC 180, SLC 200, SLC 300 and SLC 43 AMG), the edition will also be available with a particularly bright Sun Yellow exterior paint option, which is a nostalgic nod to the official "Yellowstone" launch colour of the original SLK of 1996 - and back then that colour was quite bold by Mercedes standards. Hopefully by the time these SLC Final Edition models go on sale in 2020, we'll know more about what could be in store next.

Inside, it has nappa leather in black and silver pearl with gray stitching and gray seat belts.

It will also feature Grand Edition-specific 19-inch front and 20-inch rear forged aluminum wheels from AMG. The SLC 180 and 200 will be available with the 6-speed manual transmission internationally, while the SLC 300 and the SLC 43 will be offered with the 9-speed automatic gearbox. Mechanically, the only change is the fitment of the Sport suspension options, which lowers the auto by 0.4 inch.

Other standard appointments of the Final Edition include black floor mats with an embroidered logo, AIRSCARF neck-level heating, seat heating, and the Memory package for the seats, steering column and exterior mirrors. The wheels are flat black and they mount staggered-size 18-inch wheels. The convertible can hit 0-100 kmph in 4.7 seconds, while the top speed is electronically limited to 250 kmph.

If you're not ready to pick up a Mercedes roadster before the SLC is gone and have the means, the bigger SL-class isn't going anywhere.
