Aladdin: What's Different In The New Trailer Compared To The Animated Movie?

Will Smith as the Genie in Aladdin

Disney's Aladdin opens in theatres on May 24, 2019.

For the remake, directed by Guy Ritchie (Sherlock Holmes), the fictional city of Agrabah will be created from global influences, including the Middle East, India and even China.

Disney releases the full trailer for Aladdin, which offers more from Will Smith as Genie. In it, the titular street urchin (Mena Massoud) is granted three wishes after grabbing a lamp and rubbing out a big blue Genie (Will Smith).

Well, Disney released a new trailer today, so the conversation can turn to the fact that Smith won't be blue all the time, which is for the best.

It's a trailer filled with more action sequences than previous clips have shown, spotlighting the relationship between the title character (newcomer Mena Massoud) and Princess Jasmine, played by Power Rangers star Naomi Scott.

"Hold on.that Aladdin trailer Will Smith just drop actually kind of fire", said @elitelife-kd.

Fortunately for fans, though, Disney seems to have assigned all its resources in finishing the CGI on Will Smith's Genie, a character that was nearly universally derided when the last trailer dropped.

Fans also get a better look as Smith in action as the Genie after an earlier teaser had people anxious about the quality of the CGI. Watch the new trailer above and check out the film's poster below.

Aladdin is a live-action adaptation of Disney's 1992 animated film of the same name, which is also based on the Arabic folktale of the same name from One Thousand and One Nights.

We'll find out when Aladdin hits cinemas on Thursday May 23.

The film will include new recordings of the original songs written by Alan Menken, Howard Ashman and Tim Rice, as well as new tracks written by Menken with La La Land songwriters Benj Pasek and Justin Paul. Now that we have a trailer, though, what can we tell of Aladdin?
