Tucker Carlson Doubles Down On Racism

Tucker Carlson

Fox News star Tucker Carlson once argued that women are "extremely primitive" beings who "just need to be quiet and kind of do what you're told", according to newly unearthed audio of the host ranting on a shock jock radio show.

However, the Times added that Carlson's show was bucking that trend; its ad revenue plunged 45 percent in the fourth quarter as boycott calls grew over his anti-immigrant comments.

McLaughlin added that the "idea that Fox News or Tucker Carlson would apologize to Media Matters is absurd on its face", citing the years-long feud between the organizations.

After the initial audio release, Carlson refused to apologize or, as he put it, "express the usual ritual contrition".

"She's like, she's vulnerable".

In the clips, Carlson makes sexist remarks and inappropriate comments about underage girls ー he even defends Warren Jeffs, the former leader of the Fundamentalist Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints, who was sentenced to life in prison on two felony counts of child sexual assault. "I had some very dark moments where I thought about committing suicide", she said.

Carlson did not correct Hannity, after which time a Fox News spokesperson told the Washington Post that the conservative pundit was always scheduled to host his show this week and that Hannity had simply misspoken when he wished him a "great rest of vacation". On Monday, the Fox News host said his network supports him. "Whatever Mr. Murdoch says, I do".

"Fox News is behind us, as they have been since the very first day", Carlson said.

Carlson described the contestant, who famously fumbled when answering her 2007 Miss Teen USA pageant question, as "a wounded gazelle, separated from the herd" and suggested that Mario Lopez, the show's host, had slept with the teen.

Tucker Carlson: "Iraq is a crappy place filled with a bunch of, you know, semiliterate, primitive monkeys".

A Fox News spokesman did not respond to a request for comment on Carlson's remarks about the Miss Teen USA contestant. "But we will never bow to the mob".
