Eddie Hearn optimistic Anthony Joshua on course to fight Deontay Wilder

Anthony Joshua vs Deontay Wilder

After drawing with Tyson Fury in December, it initially looked inevitable that Wilder would put his WBC title back on the line and challenge the "Gypsy King" in a rematch.

"Now I think there's a strategy in place that could lead us to this fight".

This could spell doom for boxing fans, as a rematch between Wilder and Tyson Fury has been in the works and remains high on the wishlist of many.

"We'll see where it goes".

It's very encouraging. I'm not going to say too much on it, because I don't want to jinx anything.

Wilder notified his advisers Al Haymon, founder of Premier Boxing Champions, who have promoted Wilder's fights on Showtime, and Shelly Finkel of the opportunity.

So, Wilder would be set up to earn $25 million apiece for two fights before fighting Joshua, providing he comes out victorious in both match-ups.

Wilder vs Fury 2 won't come to fruition anytime soon, though, as the latter has signed a broadcast deal with ESPN.

According to reports, Skipper will lay out a multi-fight offer to Wilder that would pay him at least US$20 million per fight on DAZN, with the second bout of the deal seeing Wilder face Anthony Joshua for the undisputed heavyweight championship.

"He's gotta be the one, in my opinion, that brokers the deal".

"Clearly the relationship between Team Wilder and Team Joshua isn't the best". He's already proved that he's very good at doing that. He also noted that John Skipper, the Executive Chairman of DAZN's parent company The Perform Group, was scheduled to meet with Deontay Wilder.

Wilder is now being planned for a May 18 return to the ring, potentially at the Barclays Center in Brooklyn, New York.

But if Wilder signs with DAZN, the Breazeale fight would be the first of the deal.

Joshua will make his United States debut at Madison Square Garden on June 1, but Jarrell Miller will be his opponent after terms could not be agreed for a heavyweight unification bout with Wilder. Joshua fights Miller. If an undisputed fight gets made it will be November or December 2019.

In other DAZN news, Kazakhstani boxing star Gennady Golovkin will net an eight-figure sum per fight to see out career on sports streaming subscription service DAZN for the rest of his career.
