India vs Australia - Highlights & Stats

Steve Smith David Warner

Australia lost the opening two games, but Wednesday's triumph rounded off a stunning turnaround and ensured they won a bilateral ODI series of at least five matches from 2-0 down for the first time. They showed character and great fighting spirit.

"People have written us off for quite a while now", said Finch.

India's chase looked in good shape early on as they kept pace with Australia's scoring rate, the sides separated by one run at the 15-over mark.

Opener Usman Khawaja once again proved to be the vital member as he scored his second ODI century in the series and second overall.

Meanwhile, Finance Minister Asad Umar also praised Khawaja for his outstanding performance and jokingly tweeted: "What do you think, should we not honour Usman Khawaja with a national award this [coming] Pakistan Day?"

"They beat us in Australia, so to come back from those first couple of losses and win three in a row to win the series is a great feeling".

Langer was proud of his troops after the drought-breaking series win.

Adam Zampa took three wickets to lead Australia's bowling at Delhi's Feroz Shah Kotla ground. "It has been an unbelievable ride since India arrived in Australia", Langer added.

Not just as a reliable batsman and wicketkeeper, Dhoni's guidance in the field was also missed in the last two matches that India lost against Australia.

They slipped from 175-1 to 182-4, before Jhye Richardson and Cummins helped them to a score of 279. "So it has given the Australian selectors some interesting decisions to make ahead of the World Cup squad selection", he said.

It was India's last match before the World Cup - which Australia won four years ago - begins in England in May.

The 12-month bans handed down to Smith and Warner by Cricket Australia for their role in the Cape Town ball-tampering incident end on March 28 and the duo are expected to play in the Indian Premier League (IPL) before the World Cup starting May 30.

Australia beat India by 35 runs in the fifth one-day worldwide in Delhi to complete their comeback from 2-0 down and win the five-match series 3-2.
