One Day At a Time Canceled at Netflix

Isabella Gomez, 21, who played Elena on the show, responded to the news on social media.

A reboot of the Norman Lear series, the comedy centers on the Cuban-American Alverez family.

Per The Hollywood Reporter, Netflix chief content officer Ted Sarandos addressed the cancellation in a statement, saying, "It's been a great honor to work with the legendary Norman Lear on One Day at a Time".

Fans reacted angrily to Netflix's Twitter announcement, which read: 'We've made the very hard decision not to renew One Day At A Time for a fourth season.

Netflix has announced that after three seasons it has chose to cancel the critically acclaimed sitcom One Day at a Time.

Would you have a problem watching One Day at a Time on another network if Netflix owned the first three seasons? Thank you to our writers & crew & guest cast. The streamer said the hard decision to not renew the series "did not come easily", but the choice was made after "not enough people watched to justify another season".

One Day at a Time has been praised as a beacon of representation on television. In a statement, Netflix CEO Ted Sarandos said, "This was a very hard decision and we're thankful to all the fans who've supported the series, our partners at Sony, and all the critics who embraced it".

Adapted by Kellett and Royce from Lear's original series of the same name, One Day at a Time was a critical darling with a social media following. "We've worked on many shows, but never have we experienced the outpouring of love, connection, and support like we have with ODAAT", the statement continued. "Either way our three seasons will always exist be there for you and for us".

Other show Brooklyn Nine-Nine went viral after Fox cancelled it in 2018, causing NBC to pick up the show for the 2019 season - maybe One Day At A Time will find another new home after going viral, too.
