Beto O’Rourke announces bid for president

Sen. Amy Klobuchar welcomed Beto O'Rourke to the 2020 presidential race on Thursday, telling CNN's Poppy Harlow in an interview that she believes more competition in the Democratic primary is good for the party and that she isn't anxious about the former congressman's fundraising prowess.

O'Rourke made his first campaign stop in Keokuk, Iowa, to answer questions from some of the state's more rural population.

During the same Iowa campaign event, O'Rourke drew criticism from President Donald Trump for his "crazy" hand movements, according to a report from the New York Daily News.

Branham said while O'Rourke is a viable candidate, he said he thinks O'Rourke will face different challenges from the Senate race with so many well-known and well-funded Democratic competitors.

O'Rourke is holding a Texas kickoff of his presidential campaign March 30 in El Paso. "I don't think anybody in that race knows what it's like". Vela said he also donated $2,000 to Julian Castro when the former San Antonio mayor and U.S. Housing and Urban Development secretary under President Obama announced his candidacy.

Some have talked about using tax credits and other subsidies as reparations, which O'Rourke did not mention Thursday.

O'Rourke's campaign did not reply to The Daily Caller News Foundation's request for comment.

O'Rourke almost upset Sen.

"He's not going to get the money he got when he ran for Senate".

While he narrowly lost his U.S. Senate race to incumbent Republican Ted Cruz previous year, O'Rourke managed to build a nationwide following with his unconventional, optimistic style combined with a populist message that brought in nearly US$80 million in primarily small donations. National Democrats were attracted to O'Rourke's record-breaking $80 million raised during his campaign, compared to Cruz's $37 million, also a record. "Do I see something that I uniquely can provide, for what the country needs right now?"
