What You Need to Know About Mosques Shooting in Christchurch, New Zealand

New Zealand Shootings: Armed Police To Patrol London Mosques

Following the brutal attacks, three men and one woman were arrested.

Sadiq Khan, the first Muslim mayor of London, said Londoners stood shoulder to shoulder with the people of Christchurch.

Forty-one people were killed at the Masjid Al Noor mosque on Deans Avenue in central Christchurch, seven were killed at the suburban Linwood Masjid Mosque, and one person died at the Christchurch Hospital.

In Malaysia, Anwar Ibrahim, leader of the biggest party in the country's ruling coalition, said one Malaysian had been wounded in the attack, which he described as a "tragedy facing humanity and universal peace".

The suspect held a Category A gun license which enabled him to legally obtain semi-automatic weapons, she said.

She added: "Why so much hate in the world?"

"It is clear that this can now only be described as a terrorist attack", Ardern said, call this "one of New Zealand's darkest days".

Dr Mohammad Faisal, spokesman for Pakistan's Ministry of Foreign Affairs, wrote on Twitter that his country "condemns the tragic terrorist incident" and said the High Commission for Pakistan is in touch with New Zealand's authorities to obtain details about the victims.

British security sources said there were no apparent United Kingdom links to the attack.

One of the alleged gunmen has Australian citizenship, the Prime Minister of Austrlia, Australia, Scott Morrison, has said. After spending more than two minutes inside the mosque spraying people with bullets, the gunman then walks outside to the street, where he shoots at people on the sidewalk.

The New Zealand government said it could be illegal to share the video, which showed the gunman repeatedly shooting at worshippers from close range.

Asked if the police were searching for any other suspects, he said: "We never assume that there aren't other people involved, that's why we've got an vast presence out there ... but we don't have named or identified people that we are looking for, but it would be wrong to assume that there is no-one else".

One person was killed and several others were injured.

Bush later stated that a number of improvised explosive devices, which had been attached to vehicles, had been defused after the shootings.

"I know our communities will be thinking of those who have lost their lives and that they will pray for those who have been lost; their grieving families and for those who have been injured".

"I imagine that these would have represented particular brothers, fathers, sons".

He said: "There can be no justification for acts of violence and discrimination based on religion or beliefs". The U.S. stands by New Zealand for anything we can do. We will continue to work together for good community relations. This is a place where people should feel secure and will feel secure.

"I think New Zealand is a peace-loving nation".

Halifax MP Holly Lynch also took to Twitter and said: "Horrific news from New Zealand this morning".

The killing of at least 49 people at two mosques in Christchurch was a "heinous crime of religious hatred", the UAE's Prime Minister has said.

The Bangladesh cricket team was in Christchurch for a test match when the attack took place.

After walking back outside and shooting a woman there, he gets back in his vehicle.

Britain's Queen Elizabeth said she was "deeply saddened by the appalling events in Christchurch today".

"We would strongly urge that the link not be shared".
