NVIDIA GTX 1660 brings Turing to Battle Royale fans on a budget

NVIDIA GTX 1660 brings Turing to Battle Royale fans on a budget

Ever since virtual reality (VR) came back to into focus of consumers there's always been the issue of price. And one of the biggest costs was always the GPU.

Just like the GeForce GTX 1660 Ti which was released last month, the new GeForce GTX 1660 aims to replace the GeForce GTX 1060 by offering NVIDIA's 12 generation Turing GPU architecture, just without the Ray Tracing and Tensor Cores found in the more expensive Geforce RTX series. The new GTX 1660 does come in other shapes and sizes, like the dual slot, single fan GTX 1660 StormX OC 6G from Palit which The Guru of 3D reviewed.

Check out even more models below.

- Hexus.net - EVGA GeForce GTX 1660 XC Ultra Gaming: Turing for the mainstream gamer? The GTX 1660 Ti's superiority is clearly demonstrated in the memory specifications. While NVIDIA says that it offers a 35% speed boost over the 3GB GTX 1060 while playing games at 1080p, the real gains become obvious when the 1660 is compared to older Maxwell cards.

It also comes with a host of Nvidia features, including adaptive shading technology and support for G-SYNC monitors.

Although many Nvidia AIC partners will have their own versions with higher GPU clock, the reference GTX 1660 works at 1530MHz GPU base and 1785MHz GPU Boost clock, while the memory is usually clocked at 8Gbps (2000MHz).

Price-wise, the GeForce GTX 1660 also has a lower starting price of United States dollars 219 (about RM 896) as compared to GTX 1660 Ti which starts at USD 279 (~RM 1141). In the United Kingdom, the price will start at £199.
