Apple just permanently cut the HomePod’s price from $349 to $299

HomePod

Apple today surprised everyone by reducing the official price of its HomePod smart speaker to $299. It's possible that a HomePod 2 is on the horizon, but more likely, Apple is trying to bolster sales and be more competitive in an increasingly crowded field, albeit one that is dominated by Amazon and Google (in that order).

It is absolutely packed with cutting-edge audio tech. So if you plan on picking up a HomePod soon, you're better off buying directly from Apple. Apple price drop may make the gadget accessible to new potential buyers to drive sales. Apple also seems to have cut HomePod prices by roughly 15% in other regions where the HomePod is available, according to 9to5Mac. So if Apple has brought the price down to $299, therefore it's safe to say that it is going to poke a dent in Apple's own wallet in the long run.

Amazon Echo, for example, has a 70% market share, whilst Google Home has a 24% share. This is usually seen on Macs, that don't get updated as often as the iOS devices. Not using your voice, though, means taking away one of the main reasons to own a HomePod. Have any of you tried a HomePod in person?

Apple built a beautiful-looking speaker with excellent sound, but not letting Siri work with other music services, and preventing people connect their devices directly, handicaps the HomePod right out of the gate.

Would you be here for a low-priced HomePod?

The previous $349 price has been phased out, and Apple Stores and third-party resellers and retailers are able to pass on the savings to consumers.
