The Division 2's first free post-launch update, Tidal Basin, releases tomorrow

A possible minigun specialist class in The Division 2

Ubisoft has dropped the first bit of free post-launch content for Tom Clancy's The Division 2 today.

Episode 3, releasing in Winter 2019 will close the first chapter of The Division 2 story and pave the way for more content to come. Completing Tidal Basin feels like I'm just scratching the surface of this update: I'm now questioning how much effort I put into the apparel-based event that's also been dropped into the game.

The Invasion Apparel Event, which will allow agents to collect outfits inspired by the enemy factions, as well as new masks and weapon skins.

The Tidal Basins update will be followed by the release of the Operation Dark Hours 8-player raid on April 25.

The update also introduces a new Heroic difficulty to give players "some of the most challenging gameplay yet", and a new PvP map called Fort McNair. Completing these hard invasions will net players better loot and gear. And there's new gear sets too in True Patriot, Hardwired and Ongoing Directive.

For those of you in the United Kingdom that means the game should go offline at 8.30 GMT. After you take on the side quest, the Tidal Basin Stronghold should unlock for you. Set seven months after a deadly virus was released in New York City, Tom Clancy's The Division 2 brings players into a fractured and collapsing Washington D.C. The world is on the brink, its people living through the biggest crisis ever faced in human history.

The intel received from Manny Ortega unlocks the new Weekly Invaded Missions at any difficulty setting. Event Keys will also be available to earn through various in-game play and experiences. If you're a Year 1 Pass holder, then you'll be able to access to the narrative content in all title updates a week before everyone else, classified assignments will be available that reward you with cosmetic things, and you'll have instant access to the three new specializations that are planned for the course of the year. Developer Massive Entertainment says that they're coming soon, so we'll be sure to cover them once they're out in the open.
