Chelsea and Liverpool condemn racist Salah chants

Chelsea's Italian head coach Maurizio Sarri gives a press conference on the eve of the UEFA Europa League quarter-final first leg football match Slavia Prague v Chelsea FC in Prague

A video circulated on social media ahead of Chelsea's Europa League match at Slavia Prague this week showed a group of six supporters chanting "Salah is a bomber" repeatedly.

Liverpool could take a huge step towards winning the Premier League title for the first time, and their first English title in 29 years, by beating Chelsea on Sunday afternoon but it's not that long ago that the same fixture cost them the title.

The fans are likely to face stadium bans as a result, while three others from the video were not spotted at the ground.

Philippe Coutinho left Anfield for Barcelona in January 2018 and since then his old employers have reached a Champions League final, are fighting Manchester City for the Premier League title and have one foot in the semi-final of Europe's biggest competition this term.

"The video circulating online, showing vile discriminatory chants being aimed at one of our players, is risky and disturbing", the statement said. It was over an alleged racist chant about Liverpool striker Mohamed Salah.

A further three fans have reportedly been identified by the club but failed to report to the Sinobo Stadium in the Czech capital after the video - in which they are easily identifiable - spread quickly on social media in the hours before Thursday evening's kick-off.

Klopp dismissed suggestions that game was on his player's minds.

"Chelsea are in a good shape, Hazard in a very good shape, that's a big game for us obviously".

"It's all about the game on Sunday".

Klopp's side hold a slender two-point advantage over City going into the weekend - although the reigning champions have one game in hand - which will be the Manchester derby on April 24.

They led the league in 2014 but lost 2-0 to Chelsea at Anfield, a defeat which helped City win the title that year. Only the colours and the names are the same pretty much. Having had two brilliant appearances in the Reds' last two games, he will want to make an impact in this crucial game as well.

No player has been directly involved in more Premier League goals this season than Hazard, who was at his dazzling best as Chelsea beat West Ham at Stamford Bridge last Monday. But we try to use the fan power and give them a boost by things we do on the pitch.
