Vasiliy Lomachenko Decimates Anthony Crolla to Retain Lightweight Titles

Mike Tyson vs. Frank Bruno

Britain's Anthony Crolla lost his debut fight in the United States, after a fourth-round stoppage by Ukrainian Vasyl Lomachenko in Los Angeles.

There are levels to this game and after last night's showing in the Staples Center in Los Angeles, California, no one will understand that more than the latest man to cross paths with Hi-Tech.

Referee Jack Reiss gave a standing eight count at the end of the third round as the Briton was being held up against the ropes amid a barrage of punches, but the fight continued. Nothing got better in the fourth, and Lomachenko hurt Crolla before finishing him in dramatic fashion. "That's my goal. I want historic fights", Lomachenko said post-fight.

Ant Crolla is a former world champion, and while there are way too many champions in boxing these days, he's proven in those title fights to be a competent, solid professional.

Lomachenko, 31, defended his WBO and WBA lightweight titles, against heavy underdog Crolla, 32.

He will be facing a tough test in Crolla (34-6-3, 13 KOs), however, despite the British boxer being a mandatory challenger. Crolla looked like a deer in the headlights with no answer to Lomachenko's vastly superior skills and speed.

"I thought it will be very hard for me, because his style is always in defense", said Lomachenko, still smiling despite a cut near his left eye from a fourth-round head butt. After observing the scene, Vasyl unleashed vicious combinations in the third round that dropped Crolla against the ropes. "I want to unify all titles". After the fight, Lomachenko called out Mikey Garcia, who will likely return down to 135 after losing to Errol Spence Jr.at welterweight last month.

"I feel at home here", Lomachenko said.
