Assange tried to create 'centre for spying' inside embassy: Ecuador President

WikiLeaks editor ‘Never underestimate the ability of Assange

Assange had been confined to the embassy building for the past seven years, having violated his bail conditions in order to demand asylum over fears he could be extradited to Sweden following allegations of sexual assault.

Assange spent nearly seven years in the embassy seeking political asylum, believing himself to be the target of multiple governments for his role in surfacing corruption and USA war crimes.

German and Spanish lawmakers protested against Julian Assange's detention on Monday, gathering outside a London prison to urge Britain and the European Union to prevent his extradition to the United States.

A lawyer representing jailed WikiLeaks founder Julian Assange says the Ecuadorian government has been spreading lies about his behaviour inside its embassy in London.

He told The Guardian: "We can not allow our house, the house that opened its doors, to become a centre for spying". Moreno gas said Assange abused Ecuador's goodwill, mistreated embassy staff and used his perch to try to interfere in other country's political affairs.

Last week Julian Assange was pulled kicking and screaming out of the Ecuadorian embassy.

While Assange awaits the very likely possibility of extradition to the United States and prosecution for reporting on the sins of the world's most powerful, mainstream media "journalists" are doing humanity another great service - by posting irrelevant videos and pictures taken inside the embassy in an effort to assist Quito in its smearing efforts. The U.S. charge carries a possible five-year prison sentence.

A war of words has broken out between the Ecuadorian government and Wikileaks' founder Julian Assange.

The president also made references to Assange's apparently poor hygiene following allegations made by Ecuador's interior minister, Maria Paula Romo.

"I think the first thing to say is Ecuador has been making some pretty outrageous allegations over the past few days to justify what was an unlawful and extraordinary act in allowing British police to come inside an embassy", she said.

The US indictment charges Assange with "conspiracy", alleging that he worked with former US Army intelligence analyst Chelsea Manning to crack a password stored on Department of Defence computers in March 2010.

Should Stockholm make a request to extradite Assange, the UK government will have to consider whether this should be done before or after that of the United States, where the 47-year-old is fighting a U.S. extradition warrant relating to the release by WikiLeaks of a huge cache of official documents.
