Images and specs leak out for Microsoft's all-digital Xbox One S

Xbox One S All Digital Edition Price and Release Date Leaked

The marketing images show an Xbox One S that looks nearly identical to the current model minus the black slot in front for the optical disc drive.

The leak comes courtesy of German website WinFuture. Microsoft still has yet to announce the console, but a new leak has potentially revealed not only what the Xbox One S all-digital edition will look like, but how much it will cost, its features, release date, and more.

Backing up previous rumours, the report confirms that the console will go on sale on 7 May complete with three of Microsoft's biggest games pre-loaded; Minecraft, Forza Horizon 3, and Sea of Thieves. Furthermore, a Game Pass "gives users access to an ever-expanding library of over 100 games that can be freely downloaded thanks to a paid monthly subscription, as on the other Xbox models", notes WinFuture. Not only are digital sales figures making up a larger part of the pie each year, but companies are investing in game streaming tech too. In practice, though, the system/game bundles now sell for $249 or lower at every major retailer, including Microsoft's own stores. There's also Google's recently-unveiled Stadia not-a-platform, which will allow gamers to play across a variety of devices.

What we have not heard about yet is Microsoft's disc-to-digital program that is code-named Odessa. With this, players would be able to take existing physical copies to select retailers in exchange for digital codes. As always, as soon as Microsoft makes anything official, we'll bring you the news here.
