Prince Harry, Meghan want baby's birth kept 'private'

Frogmore-House

The news has received a mixed reaction from the public, with many royal fans pleased with the couple's decision to enjoy private time with their newborn, before announcing the birth.

Hailed as a breath of fresh air in a stuffy institution, Prince Harry's wife Meghan is set to test the limits of the British monarchy's desire to modernise when their first baby arrives this month. The legendary TV host appeared on CBS This Morning to promote her new collaboration with Prince Harry and came to Markle's defense for how the Duchess of Sussex is being portrayed.

The duchess is expected to follow in the footsteps of Queen Elizabeth II herself, by giving birth to her baby at home - and she has reportedly hired a doula, or birth companion, to help her through the process.

The Duchess of Sussex is now on maternity leave - meaning she didn't join her husband on his visit to Dagenham yesterday (Thursday) - and is expected to give birth in the coming weeks.

"The Duke and Duchess look forward to sharing the exciting news with everyone once they have had an opportunity to celebrate privately as a new family", the statement concluded.

The palace will also, however, when the Duchess of Sussex is in labor - just as they've done in the past with Kate.

The tension has been exemplified in the reported rift between Meghan and her more traditional sister-in-law Kate, the wife of Harry's older brother Prince William. "I think the beauty of what Harry and Meghan can do, because it's highly unlikely he will be king, they can really live a different kind of life", she told ET, according to People.

Wherever Baby Sussex is welcomed into the world it's thought that hands-on Harry plans to be by his wife's side when she goes into labour.

The Palace insider added that naturally, the Meghan and Harry's birth plan could change.

It comes as the royal couple are preparing to welcome their first baby.

This is a contrast to the media photocalls we have seen with prominent members of the Royal Family. A solo shot was taken just three days after his birth by mom Kate, while Princess Charlotte was on big sister duty for a joint shot in which she placed a sweet kiss on her brother's forehead.
