Google says it has been working on foldable phone prototypes

Google foldable phone is being developed but don’t hold your breath

Samsung recently suspended all orders of its Galaxy Fold indefinitely.

Samsung has finally give its Galaxy Fold a new release date - kind of. A few days ago, Samsung sent out emails to those who pre-ordered the Galaxy Fold, informing that their pre-order would automatically be canceled if the Fold doesn't ship on May 31.

Samsung's first smartphone with a foldable display is writing history, no doubt about it. Yesterday, Samsung announced that it is postponing the release of the Galaxy Fold to give itself time to investigate the various issues the device had and hopefully come up with ways to prevent them.

Based on Koh's words, it seems that Samsung is closer than ever to a final decision regarding the foldable device.

If comments from Samsung's mobile boss DJ Koh are anything to go by, the company will soon confirm when the Galaxy Fold is going to be launched. Initial investigation reveals it's because substances entered inside the display.

Of course, the company is still finalizing its decision on the device. Reviewers mistakenly thought that layer was meant to be removed, but when they did, the screen malfunctioned immediately. But, he says that the company is yet to discover a use case for foldable smartphones, compelling enough to make the shape actually desirable for customers.

When it announced the delay, Samsung said it was taking measures to "strengthen the display" in light of the reported issues.

Earlier this month, United States mobile carrier AT&T confirmed plans to launch the Galaxy Fold to its customers on June 13, 2019.

Samsung is still deciding when - and perhaps whether - to launch its troubled $2,000 folding phone.

Samsung will strengthen the exposed areas of the hinge and will minimize the gap between the top protective layer and the bezel.
