"Arthur" Character Mr. Ratburn Comes Out As Gay & Gets Married

TOO!! FREAKING!! CUTE!!! By Raffy Ermac @byraffy

In a 2005 "Postcards from Buster" episode, the cartoon rabbit and friend of Arthur's met children in Vermont whose mothers were lesbians, though the word "lesbian" was never said in that episode either, TVLine reported.

"And we say hey, congratulations Mr. Ratburn!".

For anyone who missed it, Mr. Ratburn married his male partner on the most recent episode of #Arthur. This is not the first time that the children's show has featured LGBT character. Of course, the kids don't like her and crack open a plan to stop the wedding at any cost.

Over a decade later, however, Mr. Ratburn's big day has been widely celebrated on the Internet, with viewers and fans of the show sending their support via social media. As it happens, Mr. Ratburn is officially a married man, having gotten hitched to a man (or whatever animal he may be - an aardvark, perhaps?) by the name of Patrick.

The best part of the entire episode is that the kids don't even question Mr. Ratburn's sexuality and instead talk about how happy he looks.

But the kids chicken out when they get to the wedding and don't stand up to object to the marriage.

Arthur debuted in 1996 and featured Mr. Ratburn in its debut episode, Arthur's Eyes. Then, they learn the uptight woman is just Mr. Ratburn's sister, who is officiating the nuptials.

People took to Twitter when they learned about the episode - but many were sharing their disbelief that "Arthur" was still on the air.
