Dramatic scuffle ends with police officer fatally shooting 'pregnant' woman

Pamela Turner was shot by an unidentified Baytown Texas cop

An investigation is underway after a Texas police officer shot and killed a woman he was trying to arrest. Police said they could not confirm whether she was pregnant and that an autopsy will determine that.

According to United States media, the officer, who has not been named, is an 11-year-old veteran of the Baytown Police Department He has been placed on paid administrative leave, Dorris said, adding that this is standard protocol.

As he tried to put handcuffs on her, Turner yelled, "I'm walking, I'm actually walking to my house", in the video.

The officer didn't open fire until after Turner, 44, grabbed his Taser and shocked him in the groin, according to The Associated Press.

That's when he pulled out his weapon and fired several shots, hitting her at least one time. As she is sitting on the pavement, with a lit object in her hand, five shots ring out and she slumps over.

Antoinette, Turner's sister, told local station KPRC that the officer was her sister's neighbor and that her sibling had previously filed complaints against the cop for harassing her. Whether it means walking through a bloody police shooting to help a family find justice or showing the multifaceted talent of the Black Diaspora I write the news.

"It's unfortunate that somebody take a tragic incident like this and start posting it on social media", he said.

The officer, who is Hispanic and an 11-year veteran of the department, had previous dealings with Turner.

She yells "I'm pregnant", before sitting up, at which point he fires his gun five times.

In a text message, Lt. Dorris said Ms Turner was not pregnant. Police have not confirmed that she was.

The woman was pronounced dead at the scene. That is when an unidentified Baytown officer recognized her from prior encounters. Baytown Police detectives along with investigators from the Harris County District Attorney's Office are investigating the incident.

The shooting happened late Monday at an apartment complex in Baytown, about 25 miles east of Houston.

Per department policy, the officer has been placed on three days of paid administrative leave, the Baytown reported. "It's extremely disrespectful for everybody involved, but that's the day and age we live in with social media". Our hearts go out to the family of the deceased.
