It's a budget phone] HTC says it's making a second blockchain phone

HTC is planning a cheaper sequel to the Exodus blockchain smartphone dubbed the Exodus 1s

To complement its Blockchian phone, HTC has also developed a cryptocurrency wallet called Zion.

At the Magical Crypto Conference, Phil Chen, Decentralized Chief Officer at HTC, noted that the company wanted to build something on top of the Bitcoin architecture.

Now, HTC takes the next step in launching the descendent HTC Exodus 1S, which cannot only store cryptocurrencies but also run a bitcoin full node directly on the smartphone.

Chen claims "a really important piece of the pie" will be the phones ability to run a full Bitcoin node.

What's more, the HTC Exodus 1s will be significantly cheaper than the HTC Exodus 1. "If you don't own your keys, you don't own your bitcoin, you don't own your crypto". "We definitely want to support that first and given what bitcoin stands for, open, neutral, censorship-resistance". He elaborated that the device will be capable of acting as a full node for the bitcoin network, i.e users will purportedly store the entire blockchain's data on their respective devices. Full nodes are now the most private way to use BTC as well as the most secure as they do not suffer from many attacks that affect lightweight wallets. This is meant to allow for a so-called trustless user experience, seeing as "a full node is the only way to use bitcoin in a fully private way and full nodes are critical to securing the future of Bitcoin".

Further, the Exodus 1s merely supports a "pruned version" of the Bitcoin node, measuring in at just 10GB of the most essential information. Although the device hasn't been given a specific launch date or price tag yet, the company is said to be targeting Q3 of this year, and a price around $250 - $300.

Chen said, "The company has always believed in an open source environment and that's now more important than ever as the tech world recognizes that the open source movement got hijacked into owning everybody's data".

Other features that could appear on the Exodus 1s as a result of partnerships made by HTC include the presence of search bar widget for the privacy-focused search engine Qwant and support for Ethereum explorer Etherscan.

Besides the return of the Zion secure storage, the Exodus 1s also has some new features.
