Pop Star Selena Gomez: Social Media Has Been 'Terrible' For My Generation

Josh Gad Gets 'Angry'

"It is risky. I don't think people are getting the right information". "I would say for my generation, specifically, social media has really been awful", she said during a press conference on Wednesday, according to Variety. "I understand that it's awesome to use as a platform but it does scare me when you see how exposed these young girls and boys are".

"It's a very, it's just, I don't wanna say selfish, because that seems rude", Gomez concluded, "but it is a, I think, it's unsafe for sure".

Selena Gomez has enjoyed a huge following on Instagram, with more than 150 million followers... but she's not a fan of social media, for a very good reason. "I don't think people are getting the right information sometimes". It's what I woke up to and went to sleep to.

"As much as I am grateful for the voice that social media gives each of us, I am equally grateful to be able to step back and live my life present to the moment I have been given", she wrote in a statement at the time.

Just last month, Gomez discussed her use of social media and managing Instagram trolls while on Coach's new podcast series, "Dream It Real".

Arriving in a perfectly Parisian look, Sevigny - who was later joined by The Dead Don't Die co-stars Tilda Swinton, Selena Gomez and Adam Driver for the film's world premiere - sported a striped mini dress for the occasion. "I don't take a lot of pointless pictures I like to be intentional with it".

"I think it's pretty impossible to make it safe at this point", she continued.

The 26-year-old singer and actress has become more private in recent years as she battled personal turmoil. "I'll see these young girls at meet-and-greets". Complications from the surgery nearly killed her, and the extended recovery time left her weak and scarred.

"I would be careful and allow yourself some time limits of when you should use it", the songstress added. "Just remember-negative comments can hurt anybody's feelings".

"After hours of scrolling through Instagram feeds, I just feel worse about myself because I feel left out", one teen told the New York Post at the time. After being notably absent from the 2019 Met Gala, a source shared with ET that she's staying away from "the pressure and expectations of being under a microscope" right now.
