Trump 2020 Supporters CRASH Green New Deal Rally

Protesters gather as Mayor Bill De Blasio holds a Green New Deal rally At Trump Tower in New York City on May 13 2019

Mayor Bill de Blasio won't say whether he's running for the White House, but wants everybody to know he's taking on President Donald Trump. "Cut your emissions or we'll cut something you really care about".

De Blasio, a Democrat who won a second term as mayor in 2017, has been openly mulling a presidential bid. The setting proved to be a bit much for the Democratic mayor, whose voice eventually grew hoarse attempting to yell over the noise generated in the lobby.

The Trump Building at 40 Wall Street is estimated to face a $164,565 per year. The playlist included Tony Bennett's "Stranger in Paradise" and Frank Sinatra's "I've Got You Under My Skin" blasted through the speakers during the event. "If all these people who support President Trump are opposing what we're doing, we must be doing something right".

"Our message is loud and clear", de Blasio said in the statement. "Anyone that has a problem with saving the planet, I have a problem with them".

"It's so nice for them to serenade us here at Trump Tower, but clearly they are uncomfortable with the truth,"de Blasio said". "We will take your money", he vowed.

'One of the things you have to be when you're mayor is unflappable, ' he said.

De Blasio had originally planned to hold the rally outside the 5th Avenue building but inclement weather forced the group to move inside the building that houses President Donald Trump's Manhattan home, the New York Post reported.

Buildings are responsible for almost 70 percent of greenhouse gas emissions in the city, the mayor's office said in a statement.

The law on buildings emissions is part of the city's Green New Deal initiative, which aims to reduce emissions 30 percent by 2030 and adhere to the standards of the Paris Agreement, an worldwide pact on climate change from which Trump withdrew the United States. Mayor de Blasio recently unveiled his Green New Deal to reduce carbon emissions in New York City.

"...contains six climate measures that address several topics, including greenhouse gas emissions and the feasibility of replacing all oil and gas burning power plants with renewables and batteries". After hitting the 40 percent mark in 2030, buildings will be required to cut emissions by 80 percent by 2050. "The legislation would set emission caps that get higher over time for most buildings over 25,000 square feet".

Trump owns at least eight large buildings in New York City that do not meet 2030 emissions levels under the new law. It also provides financing for buildings willing to invest in renewable energy.
