Vivo’s 120W Super FlashCharge can power 4,000mAh battery in 13 minutes!

Vivo teases fastest-ever charging technology able to fully charge a 4,000mAh battery in 13 minutes

The teaser video was posted on Weibo (mirrored above) by Vivo's product manager. Vivo's new fast-charging technology will require no longer than 13 minutes to complete the charging process for smartphones with 4000mAh battery, making it the fastest fast-charging solution right now. A number that is astonishing when compared to the current charging solutions in the smartphone market.

Since Vivo is going to announce its 5G phone at the MWC Shanghai 2019 we can expect the company to also unveil its new 120W Superfast Flash Charge technology. Xiaomi has not released any commercial device with the new tech, and Vivo will likely only demonstrate the new tech at MWC Shanghai next week. In comparison to Xiaomi's tech, the 120W Super FlashCharge technology can charge the same-sized battery in lesser time.

The interesting thing about this announcement is that it comes just months after Xiaomi announced something similar.

Fast charging has changed a lot in the previous year or so. As per Vivo, the 120W FlashCharge tech will charge a phone with a 4,000 mAh battery from 0 to 50% in just 5 minutes. The 120W super flashcharge is a huge improvement over the previous tech, though we are not sure when to see this in real usage.

The company took to Weibo to reveal that it's working on 120 watt fast charging technology. Vivo however has not revealed any more additional details about this technology. It's also more than twice as fast as Oppo's Super VOOC charging, which promises to hit a maximum speed of 50 watts. From 15W, 18W or even 20W fast charging, we have moved on to 40W, 50W, 55W fast chargers but the smartphone makers aren't stopping anytime soon. The company did not confirm on when it will begin the mass production of the technology.
