Koscielny refuses to join Arsenal's pre-season tour

Arsenal captain Laurent Koscielny has refused to travel on the club's pre-season tour of the United States

Veteran centre-back Laurent Koscielny will not be with the rest of his teammates as they head off to the U.S. for Arsenal's pre-season tour - the defender has refused to travel with the squad, according to the Gunners' official website.

The Gunners released a statement on Thursday highlighting their disappointment at the 33-year-old Frenchman, who has been at the club since 2010.

Bordeaux have reportedly offered the centre-back a three-year deal, an offer he's said to be keen to take up.

Should an actual offer come in for Koscielny this summer, then they would consider it, but so far there have been no official bids submitted for the defender.

In all, Koscielny has made 353 appearances for the Gunners, scoring 27 goals.

In a statement, Arsenal said: "We are very disappointed by Laurent's actions, which are against our clear instructions".

Arsenal says it was working to resolve the matter.

This stance has clearly angered Koscielny, who believes after nine years of service he deserves to leave on his terms.

The Gunners battle the Colorado Rapids at 9 p.m. Monday at Dick's Sporting Goods Park in Commerce City, Colo.

The astonishing bust-up has come at the worst possible time for the Gunners ahead of their 14-day tour of the United States - taking in games against Colorado Rapids, Bayern Munich, Fiorentina and Real Madrid.

Shokdran Mustafi, Rob Holding, Callum Chambers, Dinos Mavropanos and Sokratis are Arsenal's current options at center back, but there's no doubt Koscielny would have been a starter alongside Sokratis this season.

Brazilian teenager Gabriel Martinelli has been the only new arrival so far.
