Lampard has reunited Chelsea and their fans, says Azpilicueta

Luiz has backed Lampard for success as the Chelsea boss

Willy Caballero can not wait to get the season started having already seen the impact new boss Frank Lampard's has made at Chelsea.

Chelsea's head coach appeared in good spirits following the match though, insisting that he was happy with his side's performance and stressed that the game was all about fitness.

Lampard is now in Ireland with his squad preparing for his first game in charge, a pre-season friendly against Bohemians on Wednesday. I want to stretch them because that's what pre-season is all about.

"I'm sure that his desire, passion for being manager and this chance to be manager of Chelsea, the club he loves and the fans love him", Azpilicueta said, as per The Telegraph.

"He was here for a very long and very successful period, and I can only speak the way I was with him as a player and to feel the shirt was to go every day in Cobham to be better, to train hard, to behave well on and off the pitch".

Frank Lampard said (as reported by talkSPORT): "It was a good run-out, we had good support and thanks for people turning out". We turned it around and got the Europa League at the end.

"It could have been even better but we won a trophy, which is always important, and we finished third". Now we have something unusual - the transfer ban - which gives a chance for a lot of young players, players coming back from loan.

And for the first few minutes it was, as Belgian striker Michy Batshuayi stabbed home from close-range to give Chelsea the lead after just 8 minutes. As well as reconnecting with the fans, Lampard could also bring a unifying presence to a dressing room with a reputation for turning against its leader. 'The way he showed in every training session, the way he wanted to break every record, the way he wanted to improve in every single session, to improve his finishing, the way he was playing was something really special to be by his side. No manager before has been willing, but something tells us that Lampard's arrival could be the making of him.

In the first match, experienced Argentine goalkeeper Willy Caballero started the game, but we could see the return of Chelsea's No. 1 Kepa Arrizabalaga against St. Patrick's.
