Mi A3, Mi A3 Lite Full Specs Leaked: Price, India Launch, Availability

Xiaomi's Mi A2 could be about to get an upgrade

A day after a massive leak seemingly revealed several key pieces of information about the Mi A3, Xiaomi has released its first official teaser about its next-gen Android One device.

Redesigned front and an extra camera on the rear Representing a pretty big design upgrade for the lineup, Xiaomi's new phone ditches the 6-inch, 18:9 display used on last year's Mi A2 in favor of a notched panel of the same size.

So after a plethora of leaks and rumours, finally we have a set of specifications which sound like the third generation Mi A series. Separate reports, however, suggest the latter isn't happening and Xiaomi is instead working on a cheaper version dubbed the Mi A3 Lite.

Earlier, it was reported that the Mi A3 is being developed under the codename "bamboo_sprout" while the Lite model is referred to as "cosmos_sprout".

Just like Mi A2 series, the company will launch two smartphones under the new series: Mi A3 and Mi A3 Lite.

Speaking of the innards, the source says that the Mi A3 will be powered by the Snapdragon 665 SoC which contradicts previous reports of the phone having Snapdragon 730 at the helm. The renders also give a glimpse of the triple camera setup at the back which is expected to be of a 48MP + 8MP + 2MP configuration, similar to the one found on the Mi CC9 that was announced earlier this month. There is no confirmation regarding those details or launch date either. These boast a 3D glass back design with gradient finish, 48-megapixel primary camera and in-display fingerprint sensor. A 4,000mAh battery with support for USB Type-C fast charge standard will provide the juice. It's noticeably smaller than the notch used on the budget Mi A2 Lite past year but still large enough to house one front-facing camera which, per the accompanying spec sheet, will offer a 32-megapixel resolution.

The Mi A3's launch seems imminent.
