Malaysian shamans conduct rituals to help locate missing Nora Quoirin

Malaysian police open hotline as search continues for Nora

A Malaysian shaman joined police from Ireland, France and the United Kingdom on Monday in the search for a 15 -year-old London girl who mysteriously vanished from a nature resort eight days ago, as her parents offered a cash reward and appealed for information.

15-year-old Nóra disappeared on Sunday August 4th from the Dusun Holiday Resort near Kuala Lumpur in Malaysia, where she was staying with her parents.

Appearing before cameras on Monday, a visibly emotional Ms Quoirin said: "Nora is our first child". She has been vulnerable since the day she was born. She is so precious to us and our hearts are breaking.

Nora vanished from a hotel in southern Negeri Sembilan state and a £10,000 reward has been donated by an anonymous Belfast business to help find her.

"The National Crime Agency, the Met Police and the Irish police are working together to help and support the Malaysian authorities relating to Nora Quoirin's disappearance", confirmed a spokesperson from the National Crime Agency.

They believe she was abducted, but Malaysian police have classified it as a missing person case.

Nora's parents, her Belfast mother Meabh and her French father Sebastien Quoirin, have lived in London for 20 years, and thanked those involved in looking for her.

The 15-year-old was born with holoprosencephaly, a disorder which affects brain development, meaning that her communication is limited and she struggles with co-ordination.

Praising the efforts of police carrying out the search, they said they had made a decision to offer the reward "to help their investigation".

Those with any information are urged to call the police hotline at 011-1228 5058 or email

The family have said they remain hopeful after police leading the investigation refused to rule out a "criminal element".

THE PARENTS of missing teenager Nora Quoirin have offered a substantial sum of money for any information on her whereabouts.

"And thank you so much and terima kasih", she said.

Nora was discovered missing from her room the following morning with her bedroom window open.

Negeri Sembilan deputy police chief Che Zakaria Othman said the search team has been expanded to 348 people, with the hunt now shifted to the nearby Berembun forest reserve. "Most important now, the child will be released".

In a video broadcast on local media, she added: "We want to say thank you to each and every one of you".
