Both Hemsworth and Cyrus revealed the tragedy fast-tracked the wedding plans, but Miley accepted that some people might question her decision to settle down after she confessed to being "queer".

Less than a year after the Aussie actor and American singer tied the knot in an intimate ceremony in Franklin, Tennessee, the pair announced in a statement that they'd chose to go their separate ways.

News in a statement which read, "Liam and Miley have agreed to separate at this time".

"Don't fight evolution, because you will never win. change is inevitable", she wrote in part, adding "I was taught to respect the planet and its process and I am committed to doing the same with my own".

After Miley posted a photo of herself on Instagram last Saturday, in which she was not wearing her wedding ring, rumors about the split began.

All this brings us to today when Hemsworth finally weighed in on his split from Cyrus. Carter posted two images of her and Cyrus while vacationing on Lake Como in Italy.

Earlier this month, she told Elle magazine that her marriage was very confusing to some people, but that her relationship was unique.

Within an hour of their separation being announced, Cyrus was spotted by paparazzi kissing Kaitlynn Carter on a boat in Italy, where the two are now enjoying a girls' trip. They dated on and off for a while, and finally broke up in 2013, then got back together in 2015 and later married in 2018.

"Miley and Liam have still been communicating and it wasn't a messy split but they have decided they are at different points in their lives now", the source added. She explained that it is a complex, modern relationship that is so new, people probably wouldn't get it.

"Sex is actually a small part, and gender is a very small, nearly irrelevant part of relationships", added Cyrus who has revealed that she is attracted to women.

I hope they're able to sort things out amicably and get the privacy they want.
