Nora Quoirin: Body found in Malaysia search for missing girl

Nora Quoirin, arrived from London with her family on Saturday, for a two-week trip

A body found in Malaysia is "likely" to be that of missing 15-year-old Nora Quoirin, the Lucie Blackman Trust said.

A spokesman for the Lucie Blackman Trust which is handling media enquiries for Nora's family said he is aware of the reports and is urgently seeking clarification.

Investigators previously said they had not ruled out a "criminal element" in the teenager's disappearance.

Fears grew for the 15-year-old, who has special needs, after it emerged she was barefoot and wearing a night dress when she disappeared in the early hours of August 4.

Elite units had been searching for Nora, 15, for 10 days in the jungle surrounding the eco-resort in Dusun, where she had been staying with her family.

In a statement, the charity said: "At this time we can not confirm it is Nóra".

A body has been found in the search for teenager Nora Quoirin who went missing in the Malaysian jungle.

The BBC is reporting the body was found just over a mile from the Dusun resort, has white skin and is female.

On the 9th day of SAR operations (12th August), Nora's family previously announced they were offering a RM50,000 reward to anyone with information that could help with investigations in hopes that their daughter would be found soon.

A statement released on Tuesday said: "Nora's family believe she has been abducted".

"We are especially anxious because Nora has learning and developmental disabilities, and is not like other 15-year-olds".

It comes after the parents of missing teen Nora offered a £10,000 reward for information that could lead to her safe return.

State fire and rescue department assistant director Ahmad Mukhlis Mokhtar told journalists: "Previously, our detective canines had spotted footprints, but when we conducted a search there, we couldn't find her".

He said the body was found at 1.57 pm.

Her French father Sebastian, Belfast-born mother Meabh and two younger siblings had arrived the previous day for a two-week holiday.
